2022.12.11-12. – Saying goodbye to UB for this year

Last two days before our flight home for the holidays.

I finished writing my article for the university research paper. That took a good chunk of the day, after which I’ve spent the evening packing our suitcases for the journey home.

Our two suitcases packed full for the flight (minus our two polar bears that joined the rest last minute)

In the morning, I taught my last in-person class of the semester – my students were really cute and said they would miss me (even though I kept telling them I’ll be back next semester), I even got a lollipop from one of them. A teacher whose daughter is studying in Hungary has also given me a package to take to her daughter in Budapest and she’s given me some handmade Mongolian soap and a chapstick as a gift too.

After class, I’ve said goodbye to the assistant I share the office with, leaving some administration with her to give to Otgontuya (who wasn’t in her office just then) and went home to have leftover Namaste for lunch. In the afternoon, we went to the embassy to say goodbye to the people there too. We had a nice chat with the ambassador and two diplomats before hubby went back home and I went to Shangri-La for a last swim.

In the evening, we had the intern from the embassy over for a modest dinner of roast potatoes with onions (that’s what we had left, and two cucumbers).

We stayed up until a bit over 1am, finishing packing, cleaning, and making sure the flat was left in a safe and good condition.

Checking out some ice sculptures in Sukhbaatar square on my way to the pool.
