2022.11.05. – Fueling mind and body

Today was a kind-of self-care day.

Got up pretty early to go to swim practice (super tired from only having slept about 6 hours after having been tired for days), which had felt like a stupid decision when I was walking to the pool half-asleep, pretty cold (it was -12 degrees outside when I left home), but I was grateful for my determination afterwards – as it usually happens, whenever I force myself to go to the pool. Practice itself wasn’t much fun (didn’t really talk to anyone today, just exchanged a few sentences with one of the guys at the end – he’s really nice but today he was swimming two lanes over so we couldn’t chat), and we did crawl kicks (which is the single most hated exercise in my case). However, it was nice to finally have my muscles tired from swimming and to have a sense of achievement when I climbed out of the pool after 2 hours of practice.

My hair's becoming so damaged from all the swimming but it's still worth it.

Came home right after my swim, and lay on the bed, exhausted, while my husband went to get our weekly takeaway from Namaste for lunch. We stuffed our faces with naan and tasty veggies (and chicken, in his case), and then watched an episode of the Mentalist. I thought I would just read some short fanfics and then get to work or do something useful, but I ended up falling asleep against his chest, and he was sweet enough to let me sleep, so I had an 80-min long nap – so refreshing. After my nap, I really did read some fics, then made myself get out of bed and sit in front of my laptop to update this diary/blog, which I haven’t done in days.

So yeah, today was great: having a swim, eating delicious Indian food, napping, and reading. This is my kind of self-care. And we are just about to have leftovers for dinner. Life is good rn.
