Started today with a swim.

It was still fairly early for me but we had to meet a realtor to see two apartments afterwards, so I had to be in the pool by 9 am. Had a nice swim and a girl joined me in my lane (which I wasn’t happy about at first bc I like to be alone in my lane if it’s possible), then stopped me mid-set (which I wasn’t happy about either bc there’s a reason I watch my times when swimming) to ask if I was part of a swim club. I told her I have a club back at home but not here, and she invited me to join their practices (they swim 5 times a week but it’s early in the morning) and also told me there would be a competition next month, in case I was interested. And I was. So we added each other on FB and I may or may not go check their practice out tomorrow morning. I just wish it wasn’t at 8 am.

Once I was out of the pool, my husband met me at Shangri-La and we waited for the realtor (who was 39 minutes late, but who’s counting?), then he took us to see a flat that was pretty nice but on the 4th floor and there’s no elevator in the building (not great for out bad knees) and also pretty far from the university. The second flat we went to was really close to where we stay now, only a 10-min walk from the university, so that sounds a lot better. Also, there’s an elevator in the building, and the apartment has an open layout which we prefer. This is the one we like most so far, so we might rent it, even if it’s not perfect.

After saying goodbye to the realtor, we came home for lunch, then headed to the university to grab a rollup from my office, have a quick chat with Otgontuya (I told her I cannot do Russia in my lectures and she seemed to be okay with dropping it but then mentioned asking a Russian teacher to help me with their educational system, saying I should at least talk about that, so we’ll see how much I can ignore Russia), then go to the library for the movie screening.

It was chaos, really, for about 45 minutes. Nothing was prepared properly, once we got a laptop (to play the Kahoot and the movie on), the internet was horrible (we ended up using mobile data as a hotspot from the embassy guy’s iPhone), and so on. But eventually, we started, the Kahoot went well, people got prizes, and then we watched the movie. All in all, I think it was a nice, if not very well-organized event. I have only seen two or three of my students though, so shame on the rest who didn’t come. I am kinda disappointed in them. Also, their loss, really. It was a great opportunity for them.

In the evening, we cooked and chilled, had a nice bath (separately, since the bathtub isn’t big enough for two people, unfortunately), and did some work on our laptops.
